Willingdon Avenue Greenway

ion worked with the landscape architect and City of Burnaby to design the irrigation system for Willingdon Avenue Greenway. The 13 block Greenway is a scenic urban trail creating a safe, accessible, and vibrant open space for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit users. The landscape for the project included a 1.2 km stretch of urban pathway system with two pocket parks and a continuous park-style greenway with trees, turf, and shrub beds.

The irrigation design incorporated two points of connection with controller and a mainline network spanning six City blocks per connection, operating a low water use micro-irrigation system to water the trees and shrub beds along the corridor. The irrigation control system was designed to incorporate into the City’s central control network.
